Inspired by the devastation of the bushfires of 2019/20. The terrible beauty of the monochrome bush is contrasted by the colour of the banksia shedding it seeds, bringing life and hope. ‘Glowing embers’ can still be seen beneath the charred surface on one of the pieces. The ferocious heat of the blaze has melted xanthorrhea sap into flowing black volcanic sculpture. Despite this devastation, there begins new life.
